Elizabeth Arden ‘Sparkle on Holiday’ Collection

I seem to have been buying a lot of Elizabeth Arden items recently. This isn’t intentional, but they have been running some good offers of late, this one in particular.

As I’ve mentioned in a previous post, I’ve been looking into retinols, and according to Nadine Baggott, the Elizabeth Arden one is a good one to start with:

So I decided to buy some to try (these take a while to make a difference, so I’ll write a blog post about them at a later date).

Debenhams are running an offer of ‘spend £40 on Elizabeth Arden products and buy the ‘Sparkle on Holiday collection’ for £58′, instead of the usual price of £232!!!

The offer is still running if you are interested, you can find out all about it here: https://www.debenhams.com/content/elizabeth-arden-offer (this is NOT a sponsored post, I bought this myself)

So I decided to go for it!

The case it came in is great, and will hold a lot when you take the plastic protecting the make-up out. it’d be great to use to take on holiday and should have plenty of room for lots of skin care too.

It came with 2 cards to give you some guidance using the products together (one in English, one in French).

There are a great selection of eye shadow colours and a little set of bronzer and blusher.

There is also a mascara, eye liner, a couple of glosses (that I may give my Niece as I’m not keen on gloss) and four fab lipsticks! I really am a sucker for a good red lipstick and the one on the right is right up my street!

These kind of offers are great ways of trying new things and building up your collection. There are so many fantastic gift sets available at this time of year, and don’t get me started on the Advent Calendars!!

Knowledgeable Beauty Insiders

Being a complete novice to skin care and quite basic with make-up (I’ve always had an interest in make-up, but never more than basic daily make-up really). I have relied on YouTube and blogs to help guide me. Anyone who knows anything about beauty or the beauty industry will know these people, but if you’re like me and a bit of a beginner, let these ladies guide the way…

September 2018 Empties

So this little lot is what my Husband and I have used up this month.

Ok, to start, my beloved ‘Roses et Reines’ shower gel from L’Occitane. I hate recycling these bottles, they’re just so beautiful. The smell of ‘Roses et Reines’ is absolutely divine, but it is a treaty shower gel for me at the moment, as this bottle costs £16. I know that isn’t a lot for some people, but it is for me at the moment. It has such a lovely light rose smell and can really pick you up after a long day. I find the smell incredibly soothing. I really feel like keeping the bottle so I can have a sniff until I buy another bottle. I love it, and it’s definitely a re-purchase.

Colgate Max White – Expert White in Soft Mint. Ergh… I received this (and a second one) as a substitution in my Ocado order when I was in desperate need of toothpaste. I’m sure it works fine on your teeth, but the soft mint is a massive no from me! I want my teeth to feel and taste clean and this just doesn’t cut it for me. I like a strong flavour. I know this has no effect on the working power of it, but I like to feel like my mouth is screaming for mercy when I clean my teeth.

Which brings me on to…

My Husband and I both love this toothpaste! It gives you a massive zing when brushing and makes it feel like your teeth are super clean. The only thing that makes me uncomfortable is that there is no fluoride in it, so we alternate this with a fluoride toothpaste like the Colgate. But it is much more fun brushing with the Euthymol and it tastes AMAZING!!

Original Source are a great every day shower gel. We get through a lot of it in this house. This one is the ‘Coconut and Shea Butter’. It has a gorgeous coconut smell, but we prefer…

The ‘Lemon and Tea Tree’ shower gel. I stocked up recently as Ocado had these half price. It has a gorgeous fresh smell that wakes you up in the morning. We use this the majority of the time at the moment.

My deodorant of choice. It has a gorgeous fresh smell that is light and not over powering at all. It contains 0% alcohol and is moisturising. It’s a great deodorant that doesn’t effect any perfume I’m wearing that day. I love it. Again, a definite re-purchase.

Korres is another brand I love, but again is a little spendy at the moment at £8 a bottle (and the amount my Husband goes through!). It’s like Christmas when you can get the 2 bottles for the price of one packs!! But I haven’t seen that offer for a while. This is the gorgeous ‘Jasmine’ one. Again, such a beautiful scent. Another definite re-purchase.

Ergh! Eww! No! No! No! My Husband bought this in Londis on the way to the gym as he’d forgotten his shower gel. I can’t stand it. Smells like toilet cleaner in my opinion.

My Husband really likes this and says it lasts well throughout the day.

These are so SO disappointing. They’ve been on the side of my bathroom sink for a while as I’ve been meaning to write a blog post on them. They just don’t work! One pad wouldn’t even remove one nails worth of polish and I scrubbed at it with the pad. Did I get a bad batch? I don’t know, but these are unfortunately going in the bin.

I love Loreal Elvive, it works great on my hair, which is quite thin. It always seems to be on offer and is my ‘normal’ shampoo and conditioner. I have just recently bought some Aveda Invati to try though, but again, that’s a treaty one, so this will probably remain my main brand.

And lastly, Baylis & Harding hand washes. I always have a Baylis and Harding hand wash in every sink in our home. We have an anti-bac version for in the kitchen, but our bathroom and downstairs loo have a more luxurious smelling version. I particularly like the ‘jojoba, silk & almond oil’ version. I’ve tried other brands, but these don’t dry my skin out. I’m a huge fan of them.

A little Debenhams haul

I received a 10% off beauty & fragrance voucher through the post and had a £40 credit on my Debenhams Beauty Club Card, so I thought I’d treat myself, especially as there were some fantastic GWP (gifts with purchase) last week. I always tend to look out for these as they’re a great way to try new products. All of this cost me less than £150.

To get the Murad GWP, I needed to purchase 2 Murad products. I have quite a lot of Murad to try, but didn’t have the clarifying cleanser or toner, so I decided on them. The GWP came in a very useful holographic travel pouch, which includes:

– AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser 30ml
– Rapid Age Spot Correcting Serum 5ml
– Hydro-Glow Aqua Peel 1 mask
– Essential-C Day Moisture SPF 30 PA +++ 10ml
– Retinol Youth Renewal Eye Serum 5ml

Pretty amazing right? And with Halloween around the corner, you can use the ‘Hydro-Glow Aqua Peel’ mask to pretend you’re a Hannibal Lector type character to scare the local children, whilst also doing amazing things to your face. DOUBLE WHAMMY!!!

This offer is still available at Debenhams at time of writing.

This was a free gift when you spent over £60. I’m pretty sure it said it was supposed to be worth £30? I could be wrong, and the offer isn’t on anymore so I can’t check, but if it was, really Debenhams? It’s just coming up as ‘goody bag’ on my receipt.

This included:

– SMASHBOX – Photofinish Primer (very much looking forward to try)
– FILORGA – Time-Filler, Absolute wrinkles smoothing cream
– HOUSE 99 by David Beckham – Greater Look, Face Moisturiser (is this for men? I take it is, so I’ll give it to my Husband)
– SAND & SKY – Australian Pink Clay, Flash Perfection Exfoliating Treatment
– PHILIP KINSLEY – Flaky/Itchy Scalp Shampoo

I’m becoming quite a large Clarins fan. Again, this was a 2 product purchase to get the GWP, so I bought my Husband a Clarins Men gift box and myself the ‘Daily Energiser Cleansing gel’.

Another great GWP. This contained:

– SOS hydra face mask 15ml
– Instant light natural lip oil 01 2.8ml
– Pure melt cleansing gel 50ml
– Moisture-rich body lotion 100ml
– Relax body treatment oil 30ml
– Feed bag

This offer is still available through Debenhams at time of writing.

I think this was a free gift when you spent over £40 on Benefit products, if I remember rightly. The offer is no longer available. I needed to get a new ‘POREfessional’ (amazing stuff, used it for years!) and I have been wanting to try ‘Gimmie Brow’, so decided to give that a go. GWP is just the ‘Contour Pro Envelope Bag’, which had nothing in it, but will be useful to store products in.

IMG_8384First off, how gorgeous is this bag?! I will probably use this as my main make-up bag, I love it!.

To get this, again, it was 2 purchases, so I treated myself to a couple of eyeliners. I have always wanted to try a pot and brush eyeliner, so bought the ‘Double Wear Stay in place’ gel eyeliner and a ‘Double Wear Stay in place’ eye pencil.

IMG_8385This GWP was pretty mind blowing! (Not only for the bag) but in it you got:

– Advanced Night Repair 7ml
– Revitalising Supreme + Eye Cream 5ml
– Revitalising Supreme + Cream 15ml
– Take It Away Make-Up Remover Lotion 30ml
– Pure Colour Love Liquid Lip (colour 100 – chai high) 4.2ml
– Double Wear Stay In Place Lip Pencil (colour 18 nude)
– Pure Colour Sculpting Lipstick (colour envy 123)
– A Complimentary Shade Matching Foundation Service at an Estee Lauder counter

Unfortunately, this is no longer available as a GWP, it ended on the 22nd.

and lastly, but by no means least:

The camo eye shadow palette

praise jesus

I’ve had my eye on this since it came out, my god, isn’t it beautiful?!

its so beautiful

*This blog post is NOT an ad. All items purchased myself through Debenhams.

They sometimes also have fantastic guest speakers doing Q&A’s. You can check it out here: Debenhams Beauty Club Community. They haven’t released all the contents as yet, but Kat Von D, Murad, bareMinerals, Too Faced and Ouai will be included. Retailing at £70, their advent calendar will include products worth over £110.
